The team of architects Artbe study (Miguel and Juan Berraondo Artaza), Monica Garcia and Nieto Muñoz Pujol Architects (Jorge Nieto and Casilda Tadea Ipiña) have won the First Prize for the expansion of the Royal Canoe Club Swimming. Our project assumes to rearrange the spaces in the Club with the intention of absorbing its developments and updates while maintaining its traditional values. The passage of time has led to a diversification of sports activities (both aquatic and dry), regulatory changes necessary adjustment and increased social mass. First, the original building remains organizational clarity to the axis of the pools. Along this axis, clean pools communication by eliminating steps, walkways and redesign of the center. The main gesture that we will define the level of pavement materials is the cover that opens and reaches down to the entrance ramp at the entrance to the building. We are looking for an outdoor wooden floor, like a boat deck. This will run from the top of the roof of the Olympic pool, solarium and terraces through, down to the access and ending at the entrance ramp.
